The Digital Methods Initiative (DMI), Amsterdam, is holding its annual Winter School on Data Infrastructures (9-13 January 2017). The format is that of a (social media and web) data sprint, with hands-on work for telling stories with data, together with a programme of keynote speakers and a Mini-conference, where PhD candidates, motivated scholars and advanced graduate students present short papers on digital methods and new media related topics, and receive feedback from the Amsterdam DMI researchers and international participants.

In ihrem öfentlichen Vortrag (25.10.2016, Europa-Universität Viadrina, Auditorium Maximum, AM 03, 16-18h) zu dem jüngst in deutscher Sprache erschienenen Buch “Die Politik mit der Angst. Zur Wirkung rechtspopulistischer Diskurse” (Edition Konturen 2016) zeigt die renommierte Diskursforscherin Prof. em. Ruth Wodak (Universität Lancaster und Wien) die Normalisierung nationalistischer, xenophober, rassistischer und antisemitischer Rhetorik als Teil der Mikropolitik des rechten Populismus auf.

After an initial period of gestation, documentated in two conferences, it is now time to relaunch the ILLA, to reconfigure the society on the basis of the experiences up to this point and to give it a new sustainable structure.
